The Oliva Cigar Co. had been handling distribution of Padilla cigars for a couple of years. Then, in 2015 things changed. The contract between the two companies ended, and Padilla was once again in control of its own distribution.
That’s why the 2015 IPCPR was a big deal for Padilla. Three new cigars were launched at the convention: the Padilla San Andres Cigar, the Padilla Criollo, and the Padilla Corojo. All of the cigars feature a low price tag, but high quality.
The maduro Padilla San Andres cigar is exactly what the name describes. The cigar is medium to full-bodied and has a dark San Andres wrapper wrapped around Nicaraguan Aganorsa fillers. Padilla San Andres cigars are all made in Honduras at the Raices Cubanas factory. The cigars are made by hand, using the entubado technique.

The Drew Estate Herrera Esteli cigar was created by Willy Herrera. Originally from the El Titan De Bronze factory in Miami, Herrera knows cigars. Drew Estate hired him to work on a new blend from the company’s factory in Esteli.
Before the Herrera Esteli cigar was made, Willy Herrera worked on many different blends over the course of more than a year. Finally, perfection was found with the Drew Estate Herrera Esteli. The cigar has Nicaraguan fillers grown in Jalapa and Esteli and Honduran binders. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano, but that’s not what makes the cigar so special.
This cigar is hand-rolled in the entubado style. This is regarded as one of the most difficult ways to roll a cigar, so a special team was brought in to roll all of the cigars in this line.

Drew Estate took on a new client with Royal Gold Cigars and created the Nirvana cigar line for them. The cigar is something new for Drew Estate; they don’t usually take on clients.
The cigar is also new territory for Drew Estate- they have never used a Cameroon wrapper before. The Nirvana cigar has an African Cameroon wrapper paired with a rich blend. The fillers are from the Nicaraguan Esteli and Jalapa regions, and the binder is a Mexican San Andres Negra. The Rosado wrapper combines with the Nicaraguan tobacco to create a sweet and spicy full-bodied cigar.
The Nirvana cigar is made in Drew Estate’s factory in Estlei- La Gran Fabrica. All of the cigars are made by experienced and loyal cigar rollers. This keeps the quality of the cigar at the highest level.

Nica Rustica Cigar Showcases The Best Of Esteli
Drew Estate has gone to some serious lengths to create a cigar that showcases the best of Esteli, Nicaragua. The Nica Rustica cigar debuted at the 2013 IPCPR with one goal in mind: to show what Esteli has to offer.
Available in only one size, a 6×52, the Nica Rustica cigar is something special. It features a binder from Mexico (a San Andres Negro) and filler tobacco from both Jalapa, Nicaragua and Esteli, Nicaragua. It looks similar to the Drew Estate’s Liga Privada, but where the Liga Privada had a Connecticut Darks Broadleaf wrapper, the Nica Rustica cigar uses a Connecticut Broadleaf Mediums wrapper.
This difference in wrappers may seem inconsequential, but it has a big impact on flavor. In fact, Drew Estate has gone through the trouble of buying tobacco plants in Connecticut just to make sure the mediums and darks are sorted properly.

Carlos Fuente Sr. Blends a Classic Cigar: Casa Cuba
Some individuals have had a major impact on the cigar industry. Carlos Fuente, Sr. is one of those individuals. After his father made a name for himself with his quality cigars, Carlos grew the business and made the Arturo Fuente brand of cigars a huge success.
Carlos Fuente Sr. used to be very involved in the blending process, but hasn’t blended in decades. That’s changed with the Arturo Fuente Casa Cuba cigar. Fuente Sr. blended Cuban seed fillers from the Dominican Republic and used a Dominican binder with an Ecuadorian Havana wrapper as a reminder of the Fuente history.

A Different Type of Connecticut Cigar with Alec Bradley Connecticut
In 2010, Alec Bradley launched a Connecticut wrapper cigar, the Alec Bradley Maxx. Then, he released the Alec Bradley American Classic cigar with a Connecticut wrapper in 2011. No one was expecting him to launch yet another Connecticut shade cigar at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show, and it was kept a secret until it was officially launched. The Alec Bradley Connecticut cigar marked the third year in a row a cigar with a Connecticut wrapper was launched by Bradley, and people weren’t sure what to expect.
It may have been a bold decision to have three Connecticut wrapper cigars, but it was a smart one. The Alec Bradley Connecticut is very different from the Maxx and American Classic. The cigar features a Connecticut shade wrapper from Ecuador. Under the wrapper, there are Nicaraguan and Honduran binders with Honduran fillers. The result is a mild to medium-bodied cigar with complex and peppery flavors.
