Ernesto Padilla’s boutique cigar company has put out some real gems in the past, and Padilla La Pilar is no exception. The cigar is highly rated, and this is for good reason.

One of the exciting things about the La Pilar is where it’s made. Remember the Padilla Series ’68? That fantastic cigar was made at the Tabacalera Aguilar in Honduras. La Pilar is made at the same factory. The blend features Nicaraguan long-leaf filler tobacco from Esteli and Jalapa and some Dominican fillers as well. The binder is Nicaraguan, and the whole blend is enveloped in an Ecuador Habano Oscuro wrapper.

Every year since 2013, Boutique Blends has showcased a new cigar in the Aging Room Ffortissimo line. Each cigar is strong, and made with tobacco aged for over 14 years. Each cigar has also been a success, and the newest addition is no exception.

The Ffortissimo M21 was 2013’s release. The Habano wrapper and strong blend made this cigar a hit, with a 93 rating. 2014’s addition to the Ffortissimo line was the M20. This box-pressed beauty rated a 91. For 2015, the Aging Room Ffortissimo M19 cigar combines qualities of both cigars. For years, Grupo de Maestros have been making their own private blend of Montecristo cigars from a special combination of tobaccos. Now these cigars are available to the public, but only in extremely limited quantities.

Grupo de Maestros is an elite brotherhood of master blenders and cigar makers. Combined, the Maestros bring with them over 200 years of experience and have united to create a rarefied experience for cigar enthusiasts worldwide.

The wrapper is Ecuadorian Sumatra, a deeply colored, rich wrapper that burns well with a full-bodied and spicy taste. The binder is Dominican Olor 2010 Villa Gonzalez Crop, notable for its slightly natural sweetness. The filler is a blend of Criollo ’98, a dark, heavy bodied tobacco, noted for its strength and robust taste, and Corojo ’99, wonderfully aromatic tobacco well known for burning well and uniform white ash.
