La Imperiosa Cigars Bring Back A Popular Blend
In 2014, Crowned Heads (a Tennessee-based company), launched the Las Calaveras cigar. A limited-edition cigar, Las Calaveras sold out within weeks and was one of the year’s most wanted blends. Now, Crowned Heads has brought the cigar blend back into regular production with a new name.
La Imperiosa cigars feature the same blend as the limited-edition. With a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-fillers, the cigar contains tobacco farmed at the renowned Garcia family farm in Esteli. Wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano leaf, the cigar is medium to full-bodied. The name is an homage to history- it was the name of a Cuban brand in the 1900s and the cigar even features the same artwork as its namesake. It has a kick in the beginning and balances into a surprisingly flavorful cigar.
The La Imperiosa cigar is available in boxes of 24 and comes in four sizes. You can buy at Cuenca Cigars for the best online prices. Now, you can get them with an even better deal. With the purchase of any size box of La Imperiosa cigars, you get a La Imperiosa Sampler (for limited time, while supplies last).
Paredes Pairs With Patel For A Successful Blend
The Rocky Patel name alone promises a good cigar, so even more is expected when you throw a name like Hamlet Paredes into the mix. In an incredible team effort, Paredes and Patel have worked together to blend Tabaquero by Hamlet Paredes. The cigar was launched at the 2015 IPCPR and has been quite impressive.
Hamlet Paredes has been working in the cigar business for almost 20 years. Although his most recent work was as an ambassador for Habanos cigars, he has also worked at famous factories (Partagas and Romeo y Julieta. His cigar rolling cigars are very impressive- he’s done many cigar-rolling demonstrations.
Paredes exclusively worked with Cuban tobacco until Rocky Patel took an interest in his talents. Giving him an opportunity to work with non-Cuban tobacco for the first time, Patel hired Paredes to create a new cigar blend. That’s how Tabaquero by Hamlet Paredes cigars were born.
The cigar has Brazilian and Mexican binders and a Nicaraguan filler. It’s all bound in a San Andres wrapper from Mexico. The resulting cigar is medium-bodied and very flavorful. Although there’s no Cuban tobacco, it has the same complex notes found in most Cuban blends.
Find out what Paredes and Patel have accomplished, and try a cigar yourself. They are available for the best online prices from Cuenca Cigars.

New Addition to The Nica Puro Line
In 2012, Alec Bradley announced that he would be launching a new line of cigars dedicated to Nicaraguan tobacco. Originally planned for a 2012 launch, the cigars didn’t actually hit the market until 2013. Bradley wanted the cigar to be perfect when it was finally available. Although the wait was long, no one was disappointed when the cigar hit stores. The Nica Puro cigar was a huge success with great ratings.
Since the first cigar became available, there has been a demand for other cigars in the line. That’s where Nica Puro Rosado comes in. It was launched at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show and is only the second cigar in the Nica Puro line. This cigar, much like the first, has not disappointed.
Just like the first Nica Puro, Nica Puro Rosado cigars celebrate the flavors and quality of Nicaraguan tobacco. Using a double-binder from Nicaragua and fillers from the three richest regions in Nicaragua (Esteli, Condega and Jalapa), the cigar has fantastic flavor. It stands out from the original Nica Puro with a Golden Rosado Colorado wrapper.
Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado is available in six different sizes and comes in boxes of 20. Find out if the wait was worthwhile and try one from Cuenca Cigars for the best online prices.
Montecristo 80th Anniversary Cigar In High Demand
The Montecristo brand has a rich Cuban history. In the Cuban cigar factories of the 1930’s, professional readers would read books to keep the workers entertained. At the Particulares Factory, the Count of Monte Cristo was an extremely popular book. It was so popular, in fact, that the cigar was named after one of the settings in the novel, Monte Cristo.
The Montecristo brand of cigars has been around for 80 years, so the Montecristo 80th Anniversary cigar was launched at the 2015 IPCPR to commemorate the anniversary. A limited edition production, the 80th Anniversary cigar is an homage to the brand. It features the rare Dominican Pilotico tobacco, which also has an interesting history. Pepe Mendez took the seeds from Cuba in the sixties.
Grown in a region of the Dominican Republic called Navarrete, the Pilotico has strong flavors. Other fillers include Nicaraguan ligero and Nicaraguan viso. With an sumatran wrapper from Ecuador and a binder from the Dominican, the cigar is full-bodied and flavorful.
After the first day of the IPCPR, the Montecristo 80th Anniversary cigar was sold-out. There were only 3000 boxes manufactured, but there’s still time. You can buy them in hand-made boxes of 12 from Cuenca Cigars. Try one before it’s too late.
Pete Johnson and Altadis Successfully Collaborate

Some brands of cigars have a rich history. Henry Clay cigars is one such brand. In production since the 1840’s, the cigar is an American classic. Prominent figures like Alfred Hitchcock and Rudyard Kipling wrote about the cigars in their works, and the cigar continues to be popular.
Henry Clay Tattoo cigars has only added to the success of the brand. Pete Johnson, owner of Tatuaje cigars, decided to work with Altadis USA- makers of Henry Clay cigars– to create a blend that represents the brand. A long-time fan of Henry Clay, Johnson had been looking to collaborate with them for some time.
Henry Clay Tattoo cigars are only sold in one size- 54 x 6. The cigar is a limited production cigar; 50,000 cigars were packed into 2,500 hand painted boxes of 20 cigars. The cigar was first launched at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show and was sold out after the first day. With a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper (vintage 2010), the Henry Clay Tattoo cigar uses fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua and a binder from the Dominican Republic. It’s a flavorful cigar sure to please the most discerning smokers.

Alec Bradley Sanctum Worth the Wait
Alec Bradley first announced a new edition to his cigars, called Alec Bradley Sanctum at the 2014 IPCPR. However, enthusiastic smokers had to wait a whole year for the cigar line to be launched. At the 2015 IPCPR, Bradley launched Alec Bradley Sanctum and it was received with great anticipation.
Ralph Montero, the Executive Vice President of Alec Bradley, is the creator of the Alec Bradley Sanctum cigar blend. The cigar lives up to its namesake – the translation of “Sanctum” in Latin is “a sacred or holy place.” With a Honduran corojo wrapper, a binder from Costa Rica and Costa Rican and Nicaraguan fillers, the cigar truly does take you to a peaceful place. It’s sleek, has notes of clean tobacco and has sweet notes to balance it out.
Every little detail was accounted for with this cigar, even the band. The Alec Bradley Sanctum cigar has a double band that prevents you from damaging the wrapper when you remove it. The bottom band is connected to the cigar with tension, and the top band is connected with goma. The wrapper is unscathed when the band is removed.
Although five vitolas of Sanctum were originally announced in 2014, there are only four sizes in production. For the best online prices, you can get Alec Bradley Sanctum in Robusto, Double Gordo, Gordo and Toro from Cuenca Cigars.
New Website, New Blend for Alec Bradley
Along with several other pleasant launches at the 2015 IPCPR, the Alec Bradley Tempus Nicaragua was met with open arms. In addition to revamping his website, Alec Bradley made this cigar the third in his Tempus line. The Alec Bradley Nica Puro and Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado have been bringing quality Nicaraguan tobacco to cigar smokers, and Tempus even earned a 94 rating. The Tempus Nicaragua cigar continues the tradition of excellence.
With a Jalapa wrapper, the Tempus Nicaragua cigar also features a double binder from Nicaragua and fillers from the regions of Esteli, Jalapa and Condega. It is not quite as strong as the Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado. Available in Centuria, Magnus, Terra Nova, Medius and Imperator sizes, the Alec Bradley Tempus cigar has cedar and leather notes with some flavors of spice and pepper. At Cuenca Cigars, you can buy them for the best online prices.
El Centurion Cigars In New Sizes
El Centurion cigars first appeared in 2007. Jose “Pepin” Garcia launched this line as his first limited edition line of cigars. The cigars were so rare that only about 2,550 boxes were produced. Making the cigar even more high-end, the cigar’s wrapper was a corojo. The price-tag reflected the uniqueness of the cigar- it retailed at about $14.
Fans of El Centurion were thrilled when, in 2013, the Garcia’s decided to release El Centurion cigars as a regular production line. The launch was part of a celebration honoring the ten years the Garcia family had been involved in the cigar business.
The new El Centurion cigar was slightly different than the original. At around $10, the price tag was lower. Instead of a corojo wrapper, the cigar featured a ’98 Criollo wrapper. Although the tobacco blend remained all Nicaraguan, the types of Nicaraguan tobacco differed. This blend had four types of tobacco- one of which is Sancti Spiritus. Sancti Spiritus is very unique and added a great deal of flavor to the cigar.
In 2015, the Garcia family expanded the El Centurion line by adding two new sizes. You can get the medium to full-bodied cigar in box-pressed Corona or box-pressed Toro sizes, as well as the original Robusto, Belicoso, Toro and Grande.
