My Father Releases First Connecticut Cigar and its available at Cuenca Cigars

Friday, July 18th, 2014. My Father Cigars Company; a company known for fairly strong smokes is finally leaning light. My Father Cigars will be releasing its first cigar brand featuring an Ecuadoran Connecticut-seed wrapper at the upcoming IPCPR trade show. The blend showcases a Connecticut-seed wrapper grown in Ecuador, a Corojo ’99 binder from Nicaragua and a Nicaraguan filler blend of Habano and Criollo leaf.

With the exemption of the Ecuadorian Connecticut, all the tobaccos used on this blend comes from the Garcia Family’s Farm in Nicaragua. According to My Father, one of the tobaccos in the cigar undergoes a “special

viso that has an aging/curing process of three years,” said Alcides Montenegro, general manager and advertising director for My Father. “This process is done naturally (nothing extra or artificial involved), using the Garcia’s own techniques.”

June 25, 2014. Altadis USA has released a video about the new Espada by Montecristo Cigar to be released soon. Inspired by the craftsmanship of the old sword makers. For the very first time; Montecristo, Plasencia Family and Grupo de Maestros together to create the first Nicaraguan Montecristo: Espada by Montecristo.

Altadis USA, owner of the non-Cuban Montecristo brand, has been releasing one creative iteration of Montecristo after the next. On July 1, tobacconists will receive the Montecristo Espada, a bold blend marking the first time that a Monte has been rolled with only Nicaraguan tobacco.

Montecristo Espada is described by Altadis as a spicy cigar that owes its strong, piquant character to a variety of growing regions in Nicaragua. Featuring a Cuban-seed Habano wrapper and binder from Jalapa, the cigar combines several different Nicaraguan tobaccos in the filler from Jalapa, Ometepe and Condega.

The new smokes are made in Nicaragua at Nestor Plasencia’s Plasencia Cigars S.A. factory and are a collaboration between Plasencia and the Altadis blending team, known as the Grupo de Maestros.

Espadas come packaged in striking suede boxes of ten, each adorned with three bands: a primary Montecristo band, a foot band that reads “Espada” and an ornate certificate wrapped around the middle of the smoke. Spanish for “sword,” Espada is also a reference to the rapiers found on the iconic Montecristo logo, which was reinterpreted for this line to focus on a single sword rather than the traditional six.

Blended by Grupo de Maestros and crafted by Plasencia Family with aged vintage tobaccos. Plasencia and Grupo de Maestros pay tributo to Montecristo. The legend is honored.

There will be several cigar manufacturers, Mr. Peter Bobber, Mayor of the City of Hollywood, and Eddy Balzola & Oriente Band, who will be entertaining the attendees with their live Afro-Cuban jazz-blues-rhythm-n-soul music.

On February 23rd, 2013, at 7 P.M Cuenca Cigar of Hollywood will be celebrating Cuenca Cigar Shop’s 5th Anniversary and formally releasing their new cigar: **“Cuenca 5 Anniversary”. The Biggest Cigar Block Party In The World! and it’s FREE!

Cuenca Cigars will host the launch party at their Hollywood, Florida location. There will be several cigar manufacturers, Mr. Peter Bobber, Mayor of the City of Hollywood, and Eddy Balzola & Oriente Band, who will be entertaining the attendees with their live Afro-Cuban jazz-blues-rhythm-n-soul music.

At the beginning of January, 2013 Cuenca Cigars started to run an online survey, which will end on the event night. All participants entrees whether local or online that smoke a “Cuenca 5 Anniversary”, and complete the survey will be entered for a chance to win a prize. Every half-hour the hosts will spin the raffle ticket drum and pull out a winner. To close out such a terrific event, several larger drawings will be held. Raffle prizes may include, but not limited to, “Cuenca 5 Anniversary” box, hats, cigars, ashtrays, cutters and many more surprises from different manufactures.

A couple weeks ago, I published a press release from Cuenca Cigars concerning their newly released “Cuenca 5 Anniversary”

Hollywood, Florida – On December 24, 2012, Cuenca officially announced the upcoming release of Cuenca Cigar’s latest creation: the “Cuenca 5 Anniversary” cigar. The cigar was available for sale at that time in a unique size and package in box of ten cigars.

‘Cuenca 5 Anniversary’, is a medium to full body cigar with a full flavor profile accented with spicy notes. This blend has been specially chosen by Cuenca. Then, a group of five seasoned smokers at Cuenca Cigars of Hollywood, along with Ana Cuenca were part of the testing process. “This is how we do things at Cuenca Cigars”, said Ana Cuenca. We have reinforced our customers’ avid knowledge and palate by allowing them to freely experience the vast selection in our store. In turn, they have become even more sophisticated when making their next choice for a great smoke. When it came time to develop our cigar, we fully engaged them in the development process. Who better than our loyal customers to give us unbiased feedback!

Our goal was to blend a cigar with complexity and a lot of flavor. We did not want to come out with a mild blend; we love spicy and full-bodied cigars. Even though, mild may be an easier sale; we want to be known and defined for offering a spicy and strong product. We also love to be “different”, in every possible way. Did you notice the absence of the “th” in 5? We like it like that way, and 5 is a great number for us.

“Cuenca 5 Anniversary” will have an initial batch of 500 boxes. All boxes will be signed by Miguel Cuenca. In 2013, a full line will be released using this same blend. More details will be released early next year.
