Alec Bradley Sanctum Worth the Wait

Sanctum_Robusto__14343 Sanctum_OpenedLeft__01393

Alec Bradley first announced a new edition to his cigars, called Alec Bradley Sanctum at the 2014 IPCPR. However, enthusiastic smokers had to wait a whole year for the cigar line to be launched. At the 2015 IPCPR, Bradley launched Alec Bradley Sanctum and it was received with great anticipation.

Ralph Montero, the Executive Vice President of Alec Bradley, is the creator of the Alec Bradley Sanctum cigar blend. The cigar lives up to its namesake – the translation of “Sanctum” in Latin is “a sacred or holy place.” With a Honduran corojo wrapper, a binder from Costa Rica and Costa Rican and Nicaraguan fillers, the cigar truly does take you to a peaceful place. It’s sleek, has notes of clean tobacco and has sweet notes to balance it out.

Every little detail was accounted for with this cigar, even the band. The Alec Bradley Sanctum cigar has a double band that prevents you from damaging the wrapper when you remove it. The bottom band is connected to the cigar with tension, and the top band is connected with goma. The wrapper is unscathed when the band is removed.

Although five vitolas of Sanctum were originally announced in 2014, there are only four sizes in production. For the best online prices, you can get Alec Bradley Sanctum in Robusto, Double Gordo, Gordo and Toro from Cuenca Cigars.

tempos-nicaragua

Along with several other pleasant launches at the 2015 IPCPR, the Alec Bradley Tempus Nicaragua was met with open arms. In addition to revamping his website, Alec Bradley made this cigar the third in his Tempus line. The Alec Bradley Nica Puro and Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado have been bringing quality Nicaraguan tobacco to cigar smokers, and Tempus even earned a 94 rating. The Tempus Nicaragua cigar continues the tradition of excellence.

With a Jalapa wrapper, the Tempus Nicaragua cigar also features a double binder from Nicaragua and fillers from the regions of Esteli, Jalapa and Condega. It is not quite as strong as the Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado. Available in Centuria, Magnus, Terra Nova, Medius and Imperator sizes, the Alec Bradley Tempus cigar has cedar and leather notes with some flavors of spice and pepper. El Centurion Cigars In New Sizes

el-centurion-new-size-corona-toro-box-pressed-blog-post

El Centurion cigars first appeared in 2007. Jose “Pepin” Garcia launched this line as his first limited edition line of cigars. The cigars were so rare that only about 2,550 boxes were produced. Making the cigar even more high-end, the cigar’s wrapper was a corojo. The price-tag reflected the uniqueness of the cigar- it retailed at about $14.

Fans of El Centurion were thrilled when, in 2013, the Garcia’s decided to release El Centurion cigars as a regular production line. The launch was part of a celebration honoring the ten years the Garcia family had been involved in the cigar business.

The new El Centurion cigar was slightly different than the original. At around $10, the price tag was lower. Instead of a corojo wrapper, the cigar featured a ’98 Criollo wrapper. Although the tobacco blend remained all Nicaraguan, the types of Nicaraguan tobacco differed. This blend had four types of tobacco- one of which is Sancti Spiritus. Sancti Spiritus is very unique and added a great deal of flavor to the cigar.

In 2015, the Garcia family expanded the El Centurion line by adding two new sizes. You can get the medium to full-bodied cigar in box-pressed Corona or box-pressed Toro sizes, as well as the original Robusto, Belicoso, Toro and Grande.

New Size for Popular Flor De Las Antillas Cigar

shop now flor de las antillas toro grande

Flor de Las Antillas cigars, launched by My Father Cigars in May of 2012, are the company’s first line of cigars to be completely box-pressed. Since their release, the cigars have been a major success. It even won a “Number One Cigar of the Year” honor. Other accomplishments include a score of the 96 points and eight ratings above 90. It shouldn’t be a shock that My Father has recently continued to improve the line by adding a new size.

This new size, Toro Grande, was launched at the 2015 IPCPR trade show. The 6 x 60 box-pressed cigar is one of five sizes available in Flor de Las Antillas.

The name of these cigars says a lot. The cigar is named after Cuba, the largest island in the chain of islands known as the Greater Antilles Islands. This is the Garcia family’s birthplace, home of a rich history of cigar making. Flor de Las Antillas is constructed with excellent quality and packed with flavor to make it represent its namesake.

Most of the cigars produced by My Father Cigars are full-bodied, but Flor de Las Antillas is not. This medium-bodied cigar has a rich Sun Grown Nicaraguan wrapper. Inside, the cigar has Cuban seed long-fillers from Nicaragua and a Nicaraguan binder. It’s smooth, balanced and more flavorful than you could imagine.

For the best online prices, you can buy Flor de Las Antillas in Toro Grande from Cuenca Cigars. You can also try it in Belicoso, Robusto, Toro or Toro Gordo.

A Unique Addition to Padrón Cigars with Padrón Damaso

Padrón Cigars is almost exclusively known for producing cigars of the highest quality. With box-pressed and full-bodied cigars, Padrón has had success with cigar enthusiasts for 50 years. The newest addition, Padrón Damaso, is very different from the other cigars. Mild to medium-bodied, the cigar has an Ecuadorian Connecticut seed wrapper and isn’t box-pressed.

Most of the major cigar names seem to find something they do well and stick to it, so why did Padrón create such a different cigar? Jorge Padrón answered that question for Cigar Afficianado’s David Savona. “We want to give more people the chance to try Padrón cigars,” he said in an interview. “Hopefully we can get more people to try a Padrón product – some that may not otherwise have tried one; people that prefer milder cigars. And we can bring them into the Padrón family little by little.”

Despite the many differences between Padrón Damaso cigars and traditional Padrón cigars, the excellent quality remains the same. Instead of rushing to produce as many as he could, Padrón was “focusing on the quality, focusing on the taste.” Damaso is as high quality as the other brands and certainly not lacking in flavor. “It’s not a mild, mild cigar. It’s got some flavor to it. It’s not a one-dimensional product. It does taste like tobacco. It has characteristics that you would expect from a Padrón,” Padrón stated.

Try one out for yourself and buy them at the best online prices from Cuenca Cigars. They are available in four different sizes, and may make you a Padrón fan.

Espinosa Recreates Murcielago Cigars

murcielago-cigars-blog-postBack in 2009, Erik Espinosa and Eddie Ortega owned United Tobacco/EO Brands. In a collaboration with the Garcia family, the company launched Murcielago cigars. When Ortega and Espinosa split ways, Espinosa was given the Murcielago name. Because the blend was made at the My Family Cigars factory, the Garcia’s kept the blend and the brand was put on hold.

Even though he didn’t know the blend, Espinosa didn’t give up. He enlisted the help of Amlicar Perez-Castro, a former employee of the Garcia family. Through reverse engineering, the two were able to recreate the Murcielago Cigars blend.

The recreated blend was finally launched at the 2015 IPCPR trade show by Espinosa Cigars. It features new packaging and presentation by way of a red and black band, but uses the same Mexican San Andres wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers and binders of the original cigars. Unlike the originals which were available in Robusto, Toro, Churchill, Belicoso and Toro Grande, the new launch is available in Noir, La Lune and Nocturne sizes.

You can try one out for yourself and see how it compares to the original creation. They sell for the best online prices at Cuenca Cigars.

Espinosa Especial Is Truly Something Especial

The 2015 IPCPR Trade Show was a major success for La Zona Factory and Espinosa Cigars. The Espinosa Especial Cigars were officially launched at the convention, and was a huge success. Espinosa knows Mexican tobacco, and Erik Espinosa proved this when he created this blend.

Other Espinosa cigars have been popular, but the Espinosa Especial cigar is very unique from the others. Even the last release, the Espinosa Maduro with a Mexican maduro wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers and binders, doesn’t compare.

The wrapper of the Espinosa Especial Cigar is truly unique. With a Capra Negra wrapper from Mexico, the cigar is dark, oily and earthy. Using Nicaraguan fillers and binders from four outstanding regions- Ometepe, Jalapa, Esteli and Condega, the cigar has a flavorful blend. The wrapper and the fillers make for a fantastic full-bodied cigar.

In a press release, Erik Espinosa stated, “I just love the taste of this blend from the minute we created it.” To find out if you’re a fan of the blend too, you can buy them for the best online prices from Cuenca Cigars. You can get them in boxes of ten in three vitolas. Espinosa Especial cigars are unique and loaded with flavor.

The Newly Released El Centurion H-2K-CT

el-centurion-h-2k-ct-blog

Of the many great releases during the 2015 IPCPR trade show this summer, the new El Centurion H-2K-CT stands out. Made by the legendaries Garcia’s family of My Father Cigars, this is a new brand that pleases even the most discerning smokers.

The whole El Centurion line has had a successful history. At first, it was launched in 2007 and was meant to be limited edition. After much success, the cigar line was brought back into regular production in 2013. Now, the H-2K-CT El Centurion is an alteration of the original line. It’s made at the My Father Cigars S.A factory in Nicaragua.

The Garcia’s proprietary H-2K-CT wrapper doesn’t feature your typical Connecticut shade wrapper. Instead, it features a wrapper that is a hybrid from the Valley of the River of Connecticut. Grown facing the sunlight, this Cuban-seed tobacco makes a peculiar leaf to assemble a very distinctive cigar.

You may think this cigar is too similar to the My Father Connecticut cigar or the El Centurion. This is not the case. The cigar is box-pressed and full of flavor. It’s medium-bodied and should please most cigar smokers.

With Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco, the cigar has notes of wheat and pepper. There is also a sweetness to it during the last third of the cigar. The El Centurion H-2K-CT comes in size Toro or Corona. You can buy them at the best online prices from Cuenca Cigars.

Review of E.P Carrillo Short Run 2015 Vencedores

A medium to full-bodied cigar, the Short Run 2015 Vencedores has a unique Criollo 98 leaf wrapper from Jalapa. The wrapper is dark and it contrasts nicely with the bright band. This, combined with the lightness of the cigar, makes it appealing at first glance. Unlit, the cigar is earthy and has a coffee aroma.

Once lit, the Short Run 2015 cigar has strong cedar flavors. There are also nutmeg, cinnamon and licorice notes. A wood note is noticeable, and remains throughout the whole cigar. The flavor of nutmeg and cinnamon start to fade, until a flavor of dried apricot reveals itself. The flavors of this cigar are unique and very pleasant.

With only so many boxes available, get your hands on the E.P Carrillo Short Run 2015 while you can. For the best online prices, buy them at Cuenca Cigars in Napoleon, Vencedores or Imperios sizes.
